Nameservers determine where the DNS of your domain is managed. If you want to manage the DNS elsewhere, for example at an external hosting provider or Cloudflare, change the nameservers as follows:
- Log in to the client area.
- Go to the domain overview and click the domain you want to change.
- Open the Nameservers section.
- Enter the new nameservers, for example
ns1.example.comandns2.example.com. Enter at least two. - Save the change.
Keep the following in mind:
- A nameserver change has a propagation time of 24 to 48 hours. During that period your domain may still point to the old location for some visitors.
- After the change, all DNS records are managed at the new nameservers. Make sure the correct records are set up there first, such as your A records and MX records for email, otherwise your website and mail will be temporarily unreachable.
- If you only want to change a single record, for example an A record pointing to your game server, you do not need to change the nameservers. You simply do that in the DNS management of the domain.
