How many players can join my Valheim server?

Valheim supports up to 10 players on a dedicated server. All our plans handle that comfortably; the difference is in how smoothly the world runs as your group builds larger bases and explores further.

A fresh world with a small group runs well on 4 GB. As your bases grow and you explore more of the map, memory usage increases. For groups of 6 or more with large builds, 6 GB is recommended. Heavily modded servers benefit from 8 GB.

Yes. Upload BepInExPack_Valheim and your mods from Thunderstore through SFTP or the file manager, set BepInEx mods to 1 in the Startup tab of the game panel and restart the server. All players need the same mods on their own PC. Mods do not work together with crossplay, so keep Crossplay at 0 on a modded server.

Yes. Since Valheim 1.0, crossplay works between PC (Steam and Microsoft Store/Game Pass), Xbox, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. It is off by default: open the Startup tab in the game panel, set Crossplay to 1 and restart the server. The console then shows a six-digit join code that players on every platform use to join. The code can change after a restart. With crossplay on, BepInEx mods are not supported, so keep Crossplay at 0 on a modded server (PC only).

Yes, you can upload your existing world file via SFTP. That way you continue your Viking adventure right where you left off. Make a backup on both sides first.

Yes, automatic backups are enabled by default and you can restore one yourself through the game panel. If you want to go further back, you can add extra backup slots.

Yes, you can upgrade to a larger plan at any time through the client area. Your world and settings are kept intact.
