An EPP code, also known as a transfer code or authorization code, is a unique code with which you prove that you are the owner of a domain. The new provider needs this code to start a transfer.
- Log in to the client area.
- Go to the domain overview and open the domain you want to transfer.
- Choose the option to request the EPP code.
- The code is shown immediately or sent to the email address of your account.
- Pass the code on to your new provider and start the transfer there.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Treat the EPP code like a password. Only share the code with the provider you are transferring to.
- For .nl domains, the transfer runs through SIDN, the registry for the .nl domain. The EPP code of a .nl domain is also called a token and is valid for a limited time, so only request the code when you are actually ready to start the transfer.
- A transfer is usually completed within minutes to a few hours. Your DNS settings do not transfer automatically, so write down your records beforehand.
- Make sure your domain has not expired and that any outstanding invoices are paid, otherwise the transfer may fail.
