How to use a custom domain for your game server

How to host a Minecraft server at HostValues

No port forwarding and no PC that has to stay on: your Minecraft server runs in a data centre and you manage it in your browser, in the game panel. It takes four steps.

  1. Choose a plan

    Pick the plan that fits your group. The RAM advice on this page shows how much memory you need for how many players. At checkout you can add extra RAM or storage.

  2. Choose a location

    At checkout you choose Europe (Netherlands / France), the United States (San Jose), Canada (Montreal) or Singapore. Choose the location closest to most of your players. In Europe and the US your server runs on an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X or 9950X; in Canada and Singapore we use different hardware.

  3. Pay

    Pay per month, or per year with 15% off. Prices include VAT and you can cancel monthly. After payment your server is set up automatically.

  4. Start your server in the game panel

    Under Versions you choose the server software and version, for example Paper, Vanilla, Forge, Fabric or a modpack, and under Startup the matching Java version; then start the server. Players join via Multiplayer, Add Server, with the address from the panel.

Same calculation as the plan finder above, for a server with about ten plugins or a modpack. Pure vanilla needs less, heavy modpacks need more.

That depends a bit on how many plugins and players you expect on the server. For the newer versions from 1.21 onwards, we always recommend Redstone or higher.

We support Paper, Spigot, Vanilla and Forge. So you can also use mods on your Minecraft server at HostValues. (Mods are only supported from Gold and up.)

Yes. You pick the version yourself in the panel, from new releases to snapshots and older versions. You switch versions yourself without losing your world. For 1.21 and newer we recommend at least Redstone (4GB), because newer worlds need more memory.

A modpack easily uses 6 to 8 GB before the first player logs in. For modpacks we therefore recommend at least Obsidian (8GB). Playing with a larger group or a heavy pack such as All the Mods? Then choose Barrier, Bedrock or Netherite (24GB). The plan finder at the top of this page shows straight away which plan fits your situation.

Yes. You can upgrade at any time from the client area while keeping your world, plugins and settings. Your server simply gets more memory and storage. Unsure between two plans? Pick the smaller one and scale up when you need to.

Minecraft 26.1 and newer require Java 25; versions 1.20.5 to 1.21.11 need Java 21. In the game panel you set the Java version per server, and the version selector lets you switch server versions easily. If your server or modpack will not start, first check that the right Java version is selected.

Choose a plan and a location and pay; your server is then set up automatically. In the game panel you pick the server software and version under Versions, for example Paper, Vanilla, Forge, Fabric or a modpack, and start the server. Players join via Multiplayer, Add Server, with the address from the panel.
