Never put the token in your code or in a Git repository. Store it as an environment variable instead: in the Pterodactyl panel you can add your own variables under Startup, or upload a .env file via SFTP. Your bot then reads the token from the environment.
A simple discord.js bot usually needs 100 to 200 MB, a discord.py bot often 80 to 150 MB. Large servers, heavy message caching or music features need more. The Small plan with 1 GB is plenty for most bots, and you can watch live memory usage in the panel.
Upgrade when memory usage stays above 80 percent, your bot restarts with an out-of-memory error, or you want to run several bots on one server. Upgrades are done in the client area and your files and database are kept.
