If your Minecraft community is based in Southeast Asia, server location matters more than you might think. A server in the Netherlands gives players in Singapore 180-220 ms latency. A server in Singapore brings that down to under 5 ms locally and under 50 ms across the region.
Why Singapore for Minecraft?
Singapore is the internet hub of Southeast Asia. It has direct peering connections to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. For any real-time game, latency under 50 ms means the difference between smooth gameplay and noticeable delay.
This matters especially for PvP servers, minigame networks and any server where timing affects the outcome. Even for casual SMP servers, lower latency means faster chunk loading, smoother entity movement and a better experience overall.
How much latency can I expect from Singapore?
Typical round-trip times from our Singapore data center:
- Singapore: under 5 ms
- Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur): 10-20 ms
- Indonesia (Jakarta): 20-35 ms
- Philippines (Manila): 30-50 ms
- Thailand (Bangkok): 30-45 ms
- Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City): 40-55 ms
- Australia (Sydney): 80-100 ms
Your actual latency depends on your ISP and routing. Use the latency meter on our server locations page to measure from your own connection.
Choosing the right plan
Your choice depends on three factors: player count, server type and mods.
How much RAM does a Minecraft server need in Singapore?
The RAM requirement is the same regardless of location. Here is a practical guide:
- Vanilla or Paper, 1-5 players: 2 GB
- Paper with plugins, 5-15 players: 3-4 GB
- Modded (Forge/Fabric), 5-10 players: 4-6 GB
- Heavy modpacks (All The Mods, Cobblemon), 5-10 players: 6-8 GB
- Large SMP or network with Velocity proxy: 8-16 GB
When in doubt, pick one step up. You can always downgrade later if your usage is lower than expected.
Modpack and plugin support
Our Singapore servers support the same modpacks and plugins as every other location. That includes Paper, Purpur, Forge, Fabric, Spigot and Vanilla. Modpacks like All The Mods 10, Cobblemon, Create and RLCraft work out of the box.
Plugins are installed through the game panel file manager or SFTP. Popular plugins like EssentialsX, LuckPerms, WorldGuard and Dynmap are fully supported.
Can I import my existing Minecraft world?
Yes. If you are moving from another host or from a local server, upload your world folder via SFTP or the panel file manager. If you need help, open a support ticket and we will handle the migration for you at no extra cost.
