Cobblemon is a Fabric mod that adds Pokemon to Minecraft, complete with catching, training, battling and a Pokedex. It is the successor to Pixelmon for newer Minecraft versions and runs on Fabric instead of Forge.
Requirements
- Minecraft version: Cobblemon targets 1.21.x. Check the official download page for the exact version.
- Mod loader: Fabric (not Forge or NeoForge)
- Java: Java 21 or newer
- RAM: at least 6GB, preferably 8GB. Cobblemon adds many entities and models to the world.
Step 1: install Fabric
At HostValues you select Fabric as server software when creating your server. The panel sets the correct version automatically.
Step 2: download Cobblemon
Download the Cobblemon mod from Modrinth or CurseForge. Make sure you get the server version, not the client-only version. Place the .jar file in the mods folder on your server.
You also need Fabric API as a separate mod. Download it too and place it in the same mods folder.
Step 3: first start and configuration
Start the server once so Cobblemon creates its configuration files. Stop the server afterwards. In the config/cobblemon folder you can set spawn frequency, biome spawns, PVP battles and shiny chance.
Step 4: additional mods (optional)
Cobblemon works well with other Fabric mods. Popular combinations include Lithium, Starlight, Simple Voice Chat and community-made Cobblemon addons.
Performance and RAM
Cobblemon is heavier than vanilla Minecraft. With 5 to 10 players you are comfortable at 8GB. More players or many addons? Then 10GB is wiser.
On Minecraft hosting you will find the plans. The Gold plan (6GB) is the minimum for Cobblemon; Obsidian (8GB) or higher is recommended.
