Cobblemon is a popular Minecraft mod that adds Pokemon gameplay to your world. It runs on Fabric and requires Java 21. In this guide, we explain how to set up a Cobblemon server via the HostValues game panel.
Requirements
- A Minecraft server with at least 6 GB RAM (8 GB recommended for more players)
- Java 21 or newer
- Fabric as server software
Step 1: Install Fabric
- Go to the Startup tab in your game panel.
- Select Fabric as the server software and choose the correct Minecraft version (1.20.1 or newer).
- Under Java Version, verify that Java 21 is selected. Also see our article on setting the Java version.
- Start the server once so the Fabric files are created.
Step 2: Download Fabric API and Cobblemon
- Download the Fabric API mod from Modrinth or CurseForge. Choose the version that matches your Minecraft version.
- Download the latest Cobblemon mod from
modrinth.com/mod/cobblemon. - Upload both
.jarfiles to themodsfolder on your server via the Files tab or via SFTP.
Step 3: Configure settings
Restart the server. Cobblemon automatically creates a configuration folder at config/cobblemon/. Here you can change settings such as:
Pokemon spawn ratesand which Pokemon appear- Battle settings and difficulty
- Trading and evolution options
Edit the files via the file manager in the panel and restart the server after each change.
Step 4: Optional mods
Cobblemon works well with additional mods such as:
- Cobblemon Lure Module for extra spawn control
- GTS (Global Trade Station) for trading Pokemon between players
- Architectury API as a dependency for certain add-ons
Tips
- Always make a backup before adding or updating mods.
- Make sure all mods support the same Minecraft version.
- If you experience performance issues, check the RAM usage in the panel and consider upgrading.
Tip: at HostValues you can rent a Minecraft server with enough RAM for Cobblemon.
