How to Migrate Your Game Server Without Losing Data

Switching hosting providers does not have to be complicated.

Step 1: Take a full backup

Download ALL server files via SFTP or panel. Include: world data, configurations, plugins/mods, and databases.

Step 2: Set up the new server

Create a new server with the same game version and server type.

Step 3: Upload your files

Use SFTP to upload the files to the new server. Keep the folder structure identical.

Step 4: Update DNS

If you use a custom domain, update the A record to the new IP.

Step 5: Test thoroughly

Start the server and verify: world loads correctly, plugins work, permissions are intact.
