Game Server Ping Test

Measure your latency to our European server locations

Click the button below to test your connection to each HostValues server location. Lower ping means less lag in your game. Results depend on your ISP and physical distance to the datacenter.

How does this test work?

This tool sends small HTTP requests to our server and measures the round-trip time (RTT). It runs multiple requests per location and shows the average. While this is not identical to an ICMP ping, it closely reflects the latency your game client would experience connecting to a server hosted with us.

What is a good ping for gaming?

PingExperience
0 - 30 msExcellent. No noticeable delay.
30 - 60 msGood. Smooth for most games.
60 - 100 msAcceptable. Minor delay in fast-paced games.
100+ msNoticeable lag. May affect competitive play.

Tips for lower ping

  • Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi
  • Close bandwidth-heavy applications (streaming, downloads)
  • Choose a server location closest to your players
  • Contact your ISP if ping is consistently high to nearby locations

Why is my ping high even though I live in Europe?

Your ISP's routing plays a bigger role than physical distance. Some ISPs route traffic through distant exchange points. A VPN can sometimes reduce ping by using a more direct route, but this varies by provider.

Does HostValues offer DDoS protection?

Yes. All game servers and VPS plans include DDoS filtering at the network edge. Attacks are mitigated before they reach your server, so your players stay connected during an attack.

Can I test before I buy?

This ping test gives you a real measurement of latency to our infrastructure. If the results look good, your game server will perform at that same level. Check our game hosting plans or VPS hosting to get started.
