Best Palworld Breeding Combinations

Palworld breeding combinations

Breeding is the endgame of Palworld. Once you understand the system, you can create Pals with perfect passive skills, high stats and ideal work suitability. Here is how it works and which combinations produce the best results.

How breeding works

Place a male and female Pal in a Breeding Farm with Cake. After a timer, they produce an Egg. The offspring species is determined by a hidden breeding power number: each Pal has one, and the average of both parents' numbers determines the child. Specific combinations always produce the same species.

Passive skill inheritance

The child inherits passive skills from both parents. Each parent can pass 0 to 4 of their passives. This is random, but by breeding multiple generations you can stack the best passives onto one Pal. The goal is usually to get four top-tier passives:

  • Legend - +20% attack, +20% defense, +15% movement speed.
  • Lucky - +15% attack, +15% work speed.
  • Artisan - +50% work speed.
  • Ferocious - +20% attack.
  • Musclehead - +30% attack, -50% work speed (combat only).

Best combat breeding targets

PalParentsWhy
AnubisPenking + BushiStrong ground attacker, also excellent for Handiwork 4.
Jormuntide IgnisJormuntide + BlazamutOne of the strongest fire Pals. Dominates boss fights.
FrostallionCaptured (legendary)Cannot be bred directly. Breed for passives once caught.
ShadowbeakKitsun + AstegonTop-tier dark Pal with high base stats.
OrserkGrizzbolt + RelaxaurusElectric powerhouse. Good work suitability too.

Best base worker breeding targets

For base automation, you want Pals with high work suitability levels in the skills you need:

  • Anubis - Handiwork 4, Mining 3. The best crafter in the game.
  • Warsect - Lumbering 3, Planting 2. Efficient tree farmer.
  • Jormuntide - Watering 4. Keeps farms irrigated.
  • Blazamut - Kindling 4, Mining 4. Top smelter and miner.
  • Verdash - Gathering 3, Lumbering 2, Handiwork 3. Versatile base worker.

Breed these Pals with Artisan and Lucky passives for maximum work speed.

Breeding chain example

To get an Anubis with Legend + Lucky + Artisan + Ferocious:

  1. Catch multiple Penking and Bushi with at least one good passive each.
  2. Breed Penking + Bushi to get an Anubis. Repeat until you get one with 2 good passives.
  3. Breed that Anubis with another Anubis that has different good passives.
  4. Repeat until you get one with all four target passives. This may take 10 to 20 breeding cycles.

Tips for efficient breeding

  • Build multiple Breeding Farms and run parallel chains.
  • Keep a stockpile of Cake. Each breeding cycle consumes one.
  • Label your Pals (rename them) with their passives so you do not lose track.
  • On a dedicated server, breeding continues while you are offline.

Can I breed legendary Pals?

Legendary Pals (Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus) cannot be produced through breeding. You must catch them in the wild. Once caught, you can breed them with other Pals to create specific offspring or with the same species to pass down passives.

Do IVs exist in Palworld?

Palworld does not have a hidden IV system like Pokemon. Stats are determined by species base stats, level and passive skills. Breeding focuses entirely on passing down the right passives.

Does breeding work on dedicated servers?

Yes. Breeding is fully functional on dedicated servers. The timer runs in real time based on server uptime. On a 24/7 server, breeding is faster because the timer never pauses.

Run a 24/7 Palworld server for continuous breeding on HostValues Palworld hosting.
